Privacy
What Prefire collects, why, who handles it and how long it is kept. Ean Soh, New Jersey, USA ("we") is the controller responsible for it. Questions and requests: prefiretool@gmail.com.
Without an account
Your settings, calibration, weekly count, practice log and Prefire's own logs stay on your PC, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\LineupOverlay and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Prefire. The logs name the windows that were in front while Prefire ran, titles included. Prefire reads Overwatch's settings file on your PC to check your field of view and display mode. Nothing from the logs or that file is sent.
Each launch sends a launch ping: an install id, the app version, and free or Premium, so we can count installs. The install id is a one-way scramble of your PC's Windows id and Windows user. It carries no name and no email, and it is the same at every launch. There is no switch for it in the app. To object to it, write to us. We can find and delete the rows only of PCs signed in to an account.
When you answer "Did it land?", Prefire sends the install id with that lineup and its hits and misses, at launch and once a day, so every player can see how often each lineup lands. Only totals from enough players that no one stands out are published.
Prefire also downloads the public lineup stats, the patch status and its own updates.
With an account
Your email. The PCs signed in: a one-way scramble of each PC's Windows id and Windows user, the PC's name as Windows shows it, and when it was last seen. Your sign-ins, with the IP address and browser or app details Supabase records for each. Your plan, its status and dates, Paddle's reference numbers for your purchases, and the purchase messages Paddle sends us, which say what you bought and what you paid, never your card's details.
We use them to sign you in, give you Premium on up to 2 PCs, show your plan, PCs and receipts, and stop abuse. An email is needed for an account and Premium. Without one, Prefire works free with no account.
The install id and the PC record are both made from your PC's Windows id, so the two could be matched. We don't match them, and deleting your account deletes the launch pings and hit and miss reports of the PCs signed in to it at that moment too.
Purchases
Paddle sells Premium as our reseller and handles your payment under its own privacy notice. We never see your card number and never store your card's details. Receipts, and the type and last four digits of the card that pays, are fetched from Paddle when you open billing.
Crash reports
If Prefire crashes, it sends a report to Sentry: the error and where in the code it happened, the app version, details of your PC such as the Windows version, language, region and time zone, processor, graphics card, memory and screen size, and a random id for this install. The error's text can hold a file path with your Windows user name in it. No screenshots, no files, no email.
Crash reports are on until you turn them off in Settings, under Send crash reports. Sentry keeps its random id on your PC in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Sentry.
This website
The site's fonts and scripts come from this site. Paddle's checkout script loads only when you go to buy, and Paddle may then set its own cookies. The Account page and the checkout talk to Supabase, our database, to know who is signed in, and your sign-in is kept in your browser's storage. No analytics and no ad trackers. Apart from Paddle's checkout, no other company can track you through this site. We don't track you across other sites, so a browser's Do Not Track signal changes nothing here.
How long we keep it
- Account data, including your sign-ins: until you delete the account.
- Sign-in requests and the IP address they came from: about a day.
- Hit and miss reports: about 90 days.
- Launch pings: about 13 months.
- Our servers' request logs, with IP addresses: up to 7 days. Backups: up to 7 days.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days, at Sentry.
- After you delete your account, Paddle's reference numbers and the id, type and date of each stored Paddle message: for as long as Prefire runs.
- Paddle keeps its billing records as the law requires.
Deleting your data
Delete your account on the Account page, in Prefire or on this site. That deletes your email, PCs, plan, purchases, sign-ins and the launch pings and hit and miss reports of your PCs, empties the Paddle messages we stored (only each one's id, type and date stay), and signs your PCs out of Prefire the next time they go online.
We keep Paddle's reference numbers for your purchases. They hold no name or email, but Paddle can link them to you. We keep them, on our legitimate interest, only so a late message from Paddle can't bring the account back.
The files on your PC stay until you delete the three folders above, %LOCALAPPDATA%\LineupOverlay, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Prefire and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Sentry: uninstalling doesn't remove them.
Who handles it
Supabase (our database and sign-in), Paddle (payments, as merchant of record), Sentry (crash reports), Resend (sign-in emails) and Cloudflare (this site, the downloads and the update checks). Like any web request, each of these sees your IP address. We also give data to our professional advisers, such as an accountant, when needed, and to authorities when the law requires it.
We are in the USA, and we, Supabase, Sentry and Resend store your data there. Paddle is based in the UK and Cloudflare serves the site from near you, each under its own privacy notice.
Data from the EU and UK comes straight to us in the USA. The providers above protect it under their own data processing terms, which use the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Keeping it safe
We protect your data with encryption and access controls. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your data at risk, we tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, also in a form a machine can read, and ask us to correct it, delete it or limit how we use it, at prefiretool@gmail.com. Write from your account's email so we know it's you. We answer within a month.
You can object at any time to the uses based on our legitimate interest.
In the EU and UK we rely on our contract with you for the account and Premium, and on our legitimate interest for the rest: knowing how many people use Prefire, showing every player how often lineups land, fixing crashes, stopping abuse of sign-in mails and keeping purchase records. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We make no automated decisions about you.
Children
Prefire isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If we learn we hold a child's data, we delete it.
Changes
The date at the top changes when this page does. We email account holders before a change that affects them.
